Three Business roaming

How Go Roam works

When your team works abroad, Three Business customers can use their allowances to call, text and use data in over 160 Go Roam destinations. They are grouped into three bands:

Go Roam starts automatically when you arrive in a Go Roam destination and first use your phone, including apps running in the background, and Three sends a text with the roaming charges for that destination when the phone first connects. Roaming usage comes out of your monthly UK allowance.

There is no daily roaming charge in the Republic of Ireland or the Isle of Man. In the Republic of Ireland the 12GB fair use limit does not apply either; in the Isle of Man, Go Roam in Europe fair use (up to 12GB of data from your UK allowance) still applies.

Three's small print: "Unless expressly stated otherwise in your plan description, unlocking your UK allowance for Go Roam in Europe destinations will cost you a daily charge per 24-hour period. These costs include VAT where applicable and are per SIM. Roaming in the Republic of Ireland and the Isle of Man is excluded from the daily charge. Inclusive roaming on just the SIMs that need it

For people who travel often, a 24-month unlimited UK data plan can include roaming, so there is no daily charge to think about in the destinations it covers. You choose the band for each SIM:

• Unlimited UK Data SIM + Go Roam in Europe. Inclusive roaming in 49 Go Roam in Europe destinations.
• Unlimited UK Data SIM + Go Roam Around the World Extra. Inclusive roaming in 163 destinations, including the 49 in Europe.

You add inclusive roaming to only the SIMs that need it, so the sales director who is abroad every month can have it while the office team stays on standard plans, all under one account. Plans with "Go Roam" in the name do not pay the daily charge in the destinations they include. Every Three Business Dynamic plan also includes Go Roam in Europe.

"Fair Use Policies apply. Go Roam in Europe - 12GB data, and use your UK monthly plan allowance for calls and texts back to the UK, or within Go Roam in Europe destinations. Go Roam Around the World and Go Roam Around the World Extra share - 12GB data, 3,000 minutes, and 5,000 texts back to the UK per billing month. If customers exceed these allowances, surcharges may be applied. If during any 4-month period, Customers roam in Go Roam destinations for 60 days or more, additional roaming charges may apply. Customers shall be notified before charges are applied."

Go Roam Passes and the Roaming Data Passport

For occasional trips, there are two more ways to roam:

• Go Roam Passes. Buy a 3, 7, 14, 28 or 56-day pass in advance and use your UK allowance in Go Roam destinations with no daily fee. Days are used in 24-hour blocks, do not need to be consecutive, and unused days stay on the account until you change or upgrade your plan. The Around the World Extra passes cover all Go Roam destinations.
• Roaming Data Passport. Unlimited data in selected destinations for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. Calls and texts are not included and are charged at standard roaming rates.
• Roaming Add-ons. Roaming can also come from Add-ons bought when they are needed.

Enterprise Go Roam for larger businesses

Larger businesses (over 75 employees) on Three Business Enterprise plans have separate Enterprise Go Roam roaming. If your organisation is that size, tell us how your people travel and we will set out the Enterprise options at quote.

Keeping roaming spend under control

Three gives you controls to help manage roaming spend:

• Spend Caps. A Spend Cap limits each user's out-of-bundle spending, including Go Roam daily charges. Three recommends checking your Spend Cap before you travel: with a zero Spend Cap you cannot roam beyond your plan's inclusive allowances.
• A default monthly data roaming limit. Three sets a default monthly data roaming limit on the account, sends notifications as users approach it, and stops service at the limit unless you ask for it to be changed or removed.
• Three Analyst. Review billed usage and spend across your lines.
• Compatible devices. Abroad you need a compatible device with 4G Calling (VoLTE) switched on, as 2G and 3G are being phased out.

Outside Go Roam destinations, UK allowances cannot be used and calls, texts and data are charged by destination band. Three Business Broadband is a UK service for business premises and is not meant to be used abroad. For general travel advice, see our guide to business roaming.
