Who O2 Business is

O2 Business is a new name for an established mobile business. In August 2025 VMO2's business division merged with Daisy Group, and on 29 April 2026 the combined company announced it was rebranding as O2 Business, with the new brand introduced in phases across its customer channels.

The company trades as O2 Business and serves small businesses (1 to 10 employees), medium businesses (11 to 249), large enterprises (250 and over) and the public sector. As well as mobile, it sells connectivity such as business broadband and leased lines, unified communications, cloud and IT services, cybersecurity and payment solutions. That breadth matters if you want mobile to sit alongside other services, but you can also buy mobile on its own.

We can also supply O2 Business mobile. For more on O2 Business contracts, see Forever Group's O2 Business page; this page explains the network and services.

SIMs, plans and your devices

O2 Business sells business SIM plans for phones such as Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy, plus tablets and other devices. Forever Group also has an O2 Business SIM only page, and our sister site covers business SIM only plans.

Phones you buy separately can go straight onto O2 Business plans. Before you move a fleet to any network, check the devices you already have:

  • Older phones and devices. Phones, card machines, alarm diallers and trackers bought for 3G may not make calls or connect on a network that no longer runs 3G. Check that phones support 4G Calling (VoLTE) and that other devices have a current SIM and modem.
  • Wi-Fi Calling. If the signal inside your building is weak, check that your phones support Wi-Fi Calling on the plan you choose.
  • eSIM. If you want to activate lines remotely, check each device supports eSIM. See business eSIM.

Our guide to business mobile coverage explains how to test signal indoors and what to do about weak spots.

Satellite-to-mobile messaging and maps

On 3 September 2026 O2 Business launched a direct-to-device satellite service for its business customers. It sits alongside the main mobile network and is designed to work in areas the network does not otherwise reach.

How it works, according to O2 Business:

  • It switches on automatically when a compatible smartphone is outside normal mobile coverage, connecting directly to satellites.
  • No extra hardware or apps. It works on compatible Apple, Samsung and other smartphones.
  • Everyday essentials. Text messaging, apps like WhatsApp, maps, location sharing and weather can work where there would otherwise be no signal.
  • Best outdoors. It performs best in open, outdoor places with a view of the sky, and there are some areas the satellites do not cover.
  • Not for emergency calls. O2 Business says emergency calls are not supported over the satellite connection and that it should not be relied on to contact the emergency services.

O2 Business aims it at lone and remote workers: field engineers, tradespeople, logistics crews, construction teams and anyone whose work takes them beyond reliable mobile signal. Whether it is included or an add-on depends on the plan, so we confirm it at quote. Check that each phone is on O2 Business's list of compatible devices, and check its satellite coverage map, before you plan around it.

Device management and IoT

O2 Business offers mobile device management in two forms: a central portal where you manage your own devices and apps, or a service where O2 Business handles enrolment, security and management for you. Either way, the aim is to manage apps and updates centrally, control access to apps such as Microsoft 365, and wipe company data remotely from a lost or stolen phone. O2 Business also supports Apple Business device enrolment, Samsung Knox Mobile Enrollment and Android zero-touch enrolment.

If you would rather choose your own MDM, see our guide to mobile device management software. Forever Group can supply Microsoft Intune, and we can supply Sophos Mobile and IBM MaaS360.

For connected devices, O2 Business sells IoT SIM cards built for machines rather than people: CCTV cameras, payment terminals, lifts, vehicles, signage and sensors. O2 Business lists these IoT features:

  • One portal to activate, monitor and troubleshoot SIMs remotely
  • IMEI locking, so a SIM only works in its own device, and network blocking
  • Security options including private static IP addresses, IPsec VPN, SSL VPN and remote access
  • Pooled data across all your IoT SIMs instead of separate caps

For data SIMs in tablets and routers rather than machines, see our business data SIM guide.

Is O2 Business right for you?

The right network depends on where your people work and what you need. O2 Business may be worth a closer look if:

  • Your staff work in remote or rural places where a satellite fallback for messaging and location would help
  • You want mobile, IoT, connectivity and IT services from one company
  • Your coverage checks show strong O2 Business signal at your key sites

As with any network, check coverage at the postcodes and buildings that matter, and test with real phones where you can. Our guide to business mobile phone providers sets out the full list of questions.

Moving your lines to O2 Business

Moving to O2 Business follows the standard UK switching process, and you can usually keep your existing numbers:

  1. Check O2 Business coverage at your key sites and, if satellite fallback matters, check the satellite coverage map and that your phones are compatible
  2. Text PAC to 65075 from each phone to get a Porting Authorisation Code, valid for 30 days
  3. Text INFO to 85075 if you want to check any charges for leaving your current contract early
  4. Give us the PAC codes with your order and agree a switch date that suits the business
  5. Set up eSIMs, device enrolment and your MDM so new phones are ready when they arrive

If you have devices that still depend on 3G, such as older phones, alarm diallers or card machines, include them in the plan, because they may stop working on a network without 3G. For a step-by-step guide covering credit checks and device choice, see how to get a business mobile phone contract.

Frequently asked questions

What is the O2 Business satellite service?
